This is basically a bit like Google Picasa in that it catalogues images on one's computer. ![]() I suppose my only criticism would be of the bundled "My Image Garden" software. The scan to PDF feature is also very useful for this, so it's much more useful than the old model. ![]() As an artist/designer I mainly use it to scan drawings from my sketch books, and whilst I don't need a particularly fast scanner for that job its improved scanning speed also makes it practical to scan other documents such as forms in order to keep business records. Generally in operation it works similar to the older model. I found the drivers and software easy and strait forward to install I didn't encounter any problems even though I'm still using Windows XP on my desktop so I was pleased about that. It's also a bit less bulky than the old model an inch or so shorter so fitted easily into the space I had with plenty of room for the USB lead. This also means unlike the old model the bulb only comes on when the computer is on and the scanner is in use which saves power and bulb should last longer. ![]() Very impressed with this newer model I like the fact it's powered from the USB rather than needing an additional power supply. ![]() I bought this scanner to replace an older Canon CanoScan D646U which after about 15 years had worn out.
